Check before Replacing
Whirlpool electric dryers’ heating circuit comprises the following whirlpool parts: The safety thermostat, the timer, the hi-limit thermostat, the heating element, the temperature switch, the operating thermostat and the motor centrifugal switch.
If whichever of these parts fail to perform, the dryer may not get heated up. Many people replace the heating element or the timer, when the dryer stops heating, with out examining to confirm that those parts are bad. Never take for granted that the part is bad in condition with out examining it with a multimeter.
The 1st and most significant thing you require to do is to separate the dryer from the outlet prior to doing any sort of work on it. All the parts must be tested for stability.
Take away the rear panel from the dryer. Disconnect or detach 1 of the heating component wire and make an evaluation between the 2 terminals on the heating element. The reading is supposed to be between ten and fifty ohms. If the heating component is good, verify the thermostat by taking away 1 of the wires and checking or verifying for continuity or stability. Continuity indicates that electrical energy could move across the part that you have checked.
